Program Note

Twilight Triptych is a 3-movement song cycle set to the poignant words of 20th-century Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke. Each song reflects a different facet of the Earth’s evocative landscape. The first song, Evening, portrays the quiet descent into darkness, where the fading twilight blurs the boundaries between light and shadow. Autumn is a lilting and wistful song about change and transience. The final song, In April, traces the quiet emergence of potential and renewal after a spring rain.
