Meet the Composer
Carlos Lalonde (b. 2001) is a rising Filipino-American composer of instrumental and choral concert music.
They have been commissioned by numerous performing groups and institutions for their electrifying and powerful music. Past accolades include winning the Jere Hutcheson Large Ensemble Composition Contest, Cantus’ Young & Emerging Composer Competition, the Bach Society of Dayton’s Young Composers Competition, the Diversity Initiative Call for Scores, the Greater Twin Cities Youth Orchestras (GTCYS) Call for Scores Competition and served as the 2022 Composer-In-Residence of the Alabama Orchestra Association (AOA). Their concert music has been performed internationally and has received recognition from organizations, such as UNESCO.
They are a registered member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) and the American Composers Forum. Their educational music catalog is published by Carl Fischer and North Star Music and has received the designation of Editor’s Choice on J.W. Pepper. In addition, Carlos has been recognized by multiple state music education associations for their pedagogically-rich music catalog. They have received a bachelor’s degree in music composition at Bradley University under Dr. Lynnsey Lambrecht and are pursuing a master’s degree at the College of Music at Michigan State University studying with Dr. David Biedenbender.
